This post is probably long overdue, but I just wanted to make a somewhat formal announcement that I probably won’t be updating this blog any more.
Thank you so much to all of you for following me while I was running it :) I had a great time searching out new stuff and sharing it with so many people, and it’s kind of amazing to have almost 900 people interested in weird kinks and rarepairs for this awesome fandom.
If you want to follow my personal blog it’s here at iampeevee where I mostly post pretty pictures, irreverent things, fic updates, and probably the occasional fic rec from now on. Otherwise, godspeed, it’s been really fun! Thank you :)
Title: Marriage á Trois
Summary: In the aftermath of the Blackwood case, Mary determines that if she wants to have a successful marriage, she must find a way to integrate Holmes into her relationship with John. It’s a decision that will have a number of unforeseen consequences, as she becomes far closer with the famous detective than she ever could have imagined.
I’m straying a little from BBC Sherlock here to bring you a fic based on the 2009 Sherlock Holmes film. It’s a wonderful slow burner told from the point of view of a fantastic Mary Morstan. I have to admit that I love this OT3, and the pacing and careful development of the relationships between all three characters is so, so good. Each of them felt like they became fully realised, and over the course of the fic I really fell in love with Mary. The development of her relationship with Holmes from antagonism to affection was beautifully done, and the love between the three of them was really palpable. An utterly satisfying read!

Hey! I just checked and it works for me. Maybe if you refresh the page? I don’t know what browser you’re using but chrome has been being a bit funny for me the last couple of days, especially with Livejournal!
Summary: John is the best retrieval expert the British Army has, and so naturally it’s him that’s sent in when some man with little sense of self-preservation keeps getting himself taken hostage - again, and again, and again.
Warnings: Some mild violence.
I read this fic a long time ago, and was only reminded of it again today; upon rereading it’s just as great as I remembered! Special Ops!John POV is just as droll and wryly exasperated as you’d expect with a Sherlock who keeps getting himself kidnapped, and Sherlock’s method of getting his attention is completely, perfectly madcap. Very witty and a lot of fun, this fic left a massive grin on my face.
Title: Sussex (series)
Summary: When Sherlock decides to retire to Sussex, John decides to find out who he is without Sherlock.
If you haven’t read these truly lovely fics yet, then I suggest you jump to it and spend your Sunday evening with them. As soon as i read the first summary I was halfway to falling in love with them. The characterisation was gorgeous, and the whole experience of reading this series was like having my heart broken, and then having it tenderly put back together again. The little coda was the perfect addition to the bittersweetness of the first fic, and all in all it was beautifully written and emotionally satisfying. The little nods and references to canon were fantastic, too!
Title: The New Year
Summary: —but of course, disaster can’t be barred. Won’t.
Warnings: Consent issues, and disturbing content. Check author’s notes and greywash’s profile for full warnings.
This story is one of those that leaves you feeling both gutted and wanting more. Greywash’s distinctive, disjointed style is very effective at creating this feeling that is both understated and emotionally powerful; the glimpses and slow reveals building up and building up with not a hint of melodrama. It’s incredibly hot, messy and intense, and the sheer desperation of some of the sex scenes is just brilliant. If you like angst and scorchingly hot sex, go forth!
Title: A worthy opponent
Summary: Sally and Sherlock have sex. 221B suffers.
Warnings: Hate sex
I love this story; it’s brilliantly funny, hot, entirely believable, and best of all, features a fantastic characterisation of Sally Donovan. I truly loved the way she and Sherlock gleefully went to town on each other, but also the little (tiny, tiny) hints of more tender feelings were very…well, perhaps sweet isn’t the right word, but they balanced out the rest of the fic so nicely.
Summary: “I want to die and be remembered,” Sherlock says. “You just want to live forever.”
A beautifully characterised fic which follows the Holmes brothers in short snippets from childhood to adulthood. I love the way that the author used Mycroft’s smoking as a thread throughout, and the way their relationship was painted was full of delicious tension. The atmosphere is lovely, and the prose is perfectly clean, so suited to Mycroft’s slightly prim POV.
Summary: The messages get shorter and more desperate, and the most recent one is wordless: a blurry shot of Johnny’s sweaty nape, fist tight in the blond curls she is pulling to expose it. Sherlock runs the last block and up the stairs. Inside, she triple-bolts the door and shoves a stopper under it, checks to make sure the windows are latched, and throws off her coat, following the needy sounds into her bedroom.
Warnings: Omegaverse, genderswap
Oh, what I wouldn’t give for more femslash omegaverse, but this is such a delicious little taste of it. In less than 600 words it paints a gorgeously sensual picture and the prose is really really lovely. As sweet as it is short.
Author: violet tinted pencil
Title: The Right Question
Summary: "So, you don’t have a girlfriend then?"
"Girlfriend, no, not really my area."
"All right. Do you have a boyfriend? Which is fine, by the way."
“I know it’s fine.”
“So, you’ve got a boyfriend.”
A lovely, perfectly formed fic that is ostensibly about Sherlock’s unseen boyfriend but really more about John and Sherlock’s friendship. John’s awkwardness was utterly charming, and what little we see (or read) of Victor had me completely convinced that he is a character I’d like to see more of. The dialogue is well balanced, the characterisation spot on, and Sherlock’s parting lines were the icing on this sweet little cake.

I just wanted to share with you some of my favourite oddities from other fandoms. I hope to add to this, but I’ve kept it relatively compact for now. Not all warnings are listed, so please check tags!

Title: At the Bottom of the Pool
Summary: In which Sherlock and John are female, John admits she would sometimes rather get off than chase after murderers, and Sherlock responds… oddly.
This fic is one of those rare beauties: gorgeously realised and characterised genderswap fic which is incredibly hot, sweet, and perfectly messy in a way that feels so true to Sherlock and John. The sex was imaginative and real, and the way their relationship unfolded felt really satisfying.
Summary: One night in the shower, after John found out about Sherlock’s… kink, he impulsively wrenched the handle around to cold.
It was worse, when it was John.
It was better, when it was John.
Warnings: necrophilia (not acted on), disturbing themes
This fic is a beautifully written exploration of a rather disturbing kink, that doesn’t just explore the kink but also the emotional impact it has on both participants. It was heavy, difficult and all the more effective for that, and I really liked the way that both John and Sherlock struggle with their own desires and their love for one another. I think I commented to say I found it ‘uncomfortably hot’, and that is certainly true too - the sex scenes are awkward and incredibly intense in a way that’s slightly discomfiting given the nature of them. Don’t be too scared by the tags, this is really worth the read.
Title: Virginity (series)
Summary: Lestrade finds out that Sherlock is a virgin.
Length: 27k overall
A beautifully characterised and ridiculously hot series by the very talented thinkpink20, this is one to check out if you’re not really convinced by Sherlock/Lestrade. Their relationship is definitely a colder one than I can imagine between Sherlock and John, but the author warms it just enough that it’s convincing without feeling too sweet. The sex itself is just delicious - I’ll readily admit that I have a somewhat enormous kink for slightly fumbling, desperate Sherlock and this really delivers. There’s a lovely sensuality to it too, lots of touching, and the way Sherlock isn’t afraid to talk about what he wants is just lovely.
